Summer rain viewed from the car
This is a photo taken trough the car windshield in a summer rain in Germany. We were parked in a hotel parking lot when this downpour started. As I usually carry the camera with me all the time, I thought it was fun to try a kind of abstract picture. I activated the wipers to create the smeared water effect, just a trial 🙂 Indeed, this definitely made the green trees in front of the car look like they were moving. I got some shots – this one was the coolest in my opinion 🙂
Here below is how it can look like as an art print for the wall decor. Click on it to see more options on print types, sizes and prices.

Sidewalk Cafes in Cologne, Germany.
It is quite common to see people having a good time at the sidewalk cafes and restaurants on the Rhine river side in Cologne, Germany.
The trees started to bloom competing with the almost always present red flowers in the Germans windows (typically Geraniums)
As per the tourists they are always out, no matter the weather – obviously, we were there too 🙂
(BTW: I keep selling this picture above as a postcard from Cologne in Zazzle)
It was a cloudy, rainy April day but not too cold… just perfect to spend a little time outside and have a beer… but a coffee works well too 😉 Just pull up a seat!
But what about some lunch?
It feels so good to have some German food whether you are a tourist or not. In one of these Sidewalk Cafes in Cologne I had my first so called Nuremberg sausages… they came with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes too 🙂

Lens Artists photo challenge: Windows
Looking Out Of The Window
Young lady from the last century looking out of the window at the Watson’s Mill in Manotick. I captured this image in the historic heritage community and live museum South of Ottawa in Ontario. The place was founded in 1864 by Moss Kent Dickinson – mayor of Ottawa, and it is situated on the Rideau Canal – part of the Village of Long Island Locks
The lady I photographed was part of the museum guide personnel – all dressed with costumes from the last century. I was on the second floor of the mill and I liked the light-dark contrast created by the window. I asked the lady guide to pose for me looking out, and that was for a more dramatic reason…
As history tells, this building was the scene of a tragic accident: while visiting the mill for the first time, the owner’s young wife, got her dress caught in a rotating shaft, and she was pulled down and killed instantly.
In some evenings with moonlight, locals say that that they can still see a beautiful young lady looking out the window of the second floor of Watson’s Mill…
