People of my age might remember the old Holliwood movie featuring La Quebrada Cliff Divers in Acapulco.

The 1963 American musical comedy movie “Fun in Acapulco” starring Elvis Presley and Ursula Andress  made this place famous.

This is a very steep cliff rising out of the Pacific Ocean in the Gulf of Acapulco, Mexico. Courageous and very experienced divers perform every day jumping from the top of it into the ocean. In the movie, Elvis was one of them.
It takes a big gumption to dive from a 115 ft (35 meter) high cliff into the turbulent water of a narrow gorge not wider than 48 ft (14.6 meters). Is this not amazing? – * Click on the photos for a larger view!

I uploaded all these images below to my Fine Art America gallery and they are available as art prints. Just click on them to see all the options:

At that time in my life I was impressed and delighted by the movie. However, I never ever thought that one day I would be able to see this place with my own eyes!!! I’m so grateful to my husband for this!

The cliff was already well-known because of these performances, but after the movie it became an iconic landmark. The cliff divers are still performing everyday here to the amazement of the tourists.

Art Prints

Thank you buyer for the purchase of a framed print with one of my photos taken at La Quebrada! πŸ™‚

I also made a collage as a poster or postcard with some sequences of this incredible performance, , available in my Fine Art America gallery:

And here it is, as a greeting card:

At the time of the movie and after, the beauty of Acapulco beaches and the surroundings attracted many rich and famous people, including many Hollywood stars.

One of the places where the stars used to hang out was the Los Flamingos hotel – a must to visit place. Here you can see photos and memorabilia related to these old movie titans. Elvis stayed there during the production of the movie too.

The old trucks in Sprague, Washington state – Welcome to “Dave’s Old Truck Rescue”,  a goldmine for antique rusty jewels lovers πŸ™‚

Dave's Old Truck Rescue sign and old rusty truck in Spargue, Washington

Sprague is a small village almost a ghost town in Lincoln County, Washington state.  What a surprise to find this little paradise for photographers and old cars and trucks enthusiasts! πŸ™‚

Those old-timer vehicles, so colorful looked and somehow similar, looked to me a little like a part of a “Coterie” of trucks πŸ™‚

Old colorful trucks in Washington State

Lucky that we thought to stop there! I would have spent days and days to photograph all these jewels, but we only had about one hour to spare. I took quite a few of images though, and uploaded some to my Fine Art America gallery. Those with caption are available as art prints of all kind. Just click on them to see the options!

Again, I often like to think about funny ideas when I photograph. This one for instance, looked to me like a meeting of a clan with the leader in front, so I called it accordingly πŸ™‚

Rows of old trucks in Sprague:

Some more…
I particularly liked this row of four yellow trucks. It looks like the owner of this place cared about esthetics:

Of course the old trucks in Sprague Washington where the main reason for making this post. However, is more to say and show about this old West American community dating back to 1883 when it was officially incorporated.

Other historic jewels in Sprague, Washington

Whether you are a photographer, or just an explorer, it is worth to take a walk around this nostalgic western small almost ghost town in Washington State of the USA. Just take a look at the Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Church for example, which is a piece of historic architectural jewel. The old wooden train station will perhaps attract our interest too, as it did to me πŸ™‚

Church and train station in Spargue, Washington

Here is another instance of the same street with the church and train station. The BNFS freight train was just passing by…

As you may  know already, I’m a traveler and not particularly a car photographer. However, this antique farm equipment display I found in Spargue, was a real goldmine πŸ™‚

So, what else did I find here,… let’s see:

Oh look at this weathered sign of “The Prague TAVERN”, with the perspective of the main street! Of course the establishment itself closed its door for a while.

The Sprague Tavern antique sign

But I found another nostalgic piece of jewelry! Just look at his barber sign and mural on an old brick wall πŸ™‚ It says: “Cremo Cigar, Barber Shop and BATHS, Straight Shape” – All hot headlines for that time in this Western small village πŸ™‚

I hope you enjoyed this short one hour visit to Sprague, Washington State, as much as I did πŸ™‚
** I just updated this post with more images that I uploaded to my FAA gallery

Mural in Smith Falls, Ontario

Intriguing Mural in Smith Falls, Ontario art print by Tatiana Shima

Smith Falls is a small town in Ontario, along the famous Rideau Canal of Canada starting in Ottawa and ending in Lake Ontario.

On a 3 day trip to Thousand Islands for my birthday, we drove through this historic town. Suddenly, I saw a rather intriguing mural a side of a building. Obviously, I needed to have it πŸ™‚ It was somehow hidden, but hey, the photographer’s mission is to see things… right?

I was really impressed by the painting job of this artist which name, unfortunately I don’t know. The mural perfectly matches the architecture, patterns and even the bricks of the building’s facade. In addition, the worker looks quite safe up there too… don’t you think? πŸ™‚ Fantastic job!

Click on the picture to see it in a larger format. The mural is also available as print in many formats and sizes. Here is a framed art print version of it in my Fina Art America collection. Just click on the pictures to see more:

Do you want a morass puzzle? Just kidding… I don’t think it’s that overwhelming, but I believe it’s fun to try πŸ™‚
