I don’t often go out with my camera early in the morning, but when I occasionally do, I don’t regret it. As a matter of fact, we can obtain a similar type of light whether it is at the sunset or sunrise. However, there is a difference, and the photos will show it. Most of them are available as art prints in my Fine Art America gallery. Click on them for a larger view (links open in a separate window)!

You can never capture that freshness of the air in the golden afternoon light. That reason made me leave the comfort of being inside on a crisp late October morning.

I was in Prince Edward county, Ontario, Canada and the frost was covering the ground, but I had to go out 🙂 What a miss if I wouldn’t have! ( I have posted this photo below already on my GiftSmart.com website)

At that time we were renting a home nearby this lake resort which was closed for the winter. A totally beautiful place!

As the sun was going higher, the frost disappeared and a warmer light started to show.

I think that I spent more than one hour walking around, and taking photos of various aspects of this cold morning. I just couldn’t leave.

Through the trees across the lake when looking from a different angle, some more beauty revealed to my eyes

… And I just couldn’t ignore these golden frosted maple leaves on the ground on my way back…

On that October morning,  down on Picton Bay, the ferry was transporting passengers to work. But it does this every morning and month of the year… What a nice way to start your day!

The morning light is definitely unique. Isn’t it?

Bocas del Toro Caribbean Art

I took this photo of the colorful Caribbean art kiosk, from the Gran Hotel Bahia, where we were staying, right across the main street. My eyes were attracted by all the colors and items displayed there: masks, rugs, tapestries, paintings, scarfs and other wearable items, and everything else that was visible there, including the lady with green socks… 🙂
I also uploaded this photo and the one below to my Fine Art America gallery, where they are available as art prints for wall, home decor, and all kind of products. Just click on them to see:

More from the art kiosk in Bocas

Here (below) is the art vendor browsing some newspapers inside her art kiosk, surrounded by all the items she had for sale. I sneaked for a few seconds into her environment, and quickly snapped the photo…(I didn’t want to disturb her privacy as I knew that just like me, hundreds of other tourists do the same all the time), but I really liked the scene and the Story related to this kiosk.

I actually played with this one and made it painterly using the digital media on my iPad. I uploaded the result to my Fine Art America gallery where is available as art print.

The visitors

The Caribbean Art gallery in Bocas, was attracting many art lovers locals or tourists, and here I snapped a local woman looking at the exhibits. She was just as colorful as the art itself 🙂

It was the closing time when we arrived

This is an almost wordless image, but for me, there is so much to tell about…

I took this photo in an European tavern, more precisely in an evening when we were traveling to Hamburg, Germany, and looking for something to eat.

Even though we couldn’t eat there but had to go and find something else, I had to take the shot at least…

Closing time tavern Germany
Closing time at the tavern in Europe

The atmosphere of this dining room with the old fashion chairs turned upside-down on the tables was so nostalgic. My husband – a “Yankee” as he used to joke about himself, was not impressed 🙂

For me however, born loongtime ago in Europe, it was an atmosphere that I suddenly realized I was missing… It inspired somehow the feeling of “”Je ne sais qua..” .. part romance, part Quartier Latin in Paris.. It was not in France, but Germany… Oh, well the old Europe anyway, and I remember this kind of sceneries from my own childhood.

Well, I loved this image and made it black and white to increase the nostalgia of it. I also entitled it “Closing Time” and posted it to my gallery at Fine Art America. If you click on it you can see it available as all kinds of art prints.

Closing time in North America

Later when Canada we ate in an Italian/NY style restaurant in St. John’s Newfoundland, Canada. It’s a chain of eatery taverns called “Mario’s”. It was late and closing time again, but not too late to still have some food for the evening. All the chairs where upside down but we were able to get a table 🙂 Well, of course I had to take the photo. – Who cares about eating? Photos are so much more important 🙂 The photo is now part of my FAA gallery too, and I called it: “At the restaurant – an unusual view”

A totally different type of atmosphere, specific to North America, but yet chairs upside down at closing time 🙂
