Nuremberg sausages with sauerkraut and potatoes is an authentic, traditional German plate – oh, I cannot tell how good it is… I wish I had some right now 🙂

It was a rainy spring day, but not bad enough to keep us inside. After all we were here to see everything, and walking on the streets of Cologne (Köln) is nice every time of the year. At lunch hour we happened to pass by this specific colorful German restaurant, not far from the boardwalk along the Rhine River.

I was attracted by the reddish wooden chairs and tables and the large inviting open windows, traditionally decorated with red Geranium flowers, and of course by the menu… 🙂
Peeking through one of the windows, I admired the creative way the silverware and napkins were arranged inside the ceramic beer mugs. Well, in Germany it would be a shame not to taste the delicious world-renowned beer along with traditional German food.
… And if you are curious, this is how this casual restaurant looks like, in between the peak hours:

As a vegetarian, my husband had his beer with a traditional German pretzel (also called Bretzle), sprinkled with some grains of salt.

But in Germany you can have Nuremberg sausages almost everywhere. You can have them at kiosks, in breweries, and in small or large restaurants.
Now, the sausages don’t necessarily have to be from Nuremberg. There are many kinds of delicious sausages in this country and they are almost always served with sauerkraut.
Nuremberg sausages can be also served with just mustard and bread, as a snack to go with your beer.
Oh, I love Germany and the German cuisine. I can get the whiff the sausages and sauerkraut only be looking at the picture. – I better stop thinking abut this 🙂

Mount Rushmore National Memorial in South Dakota, USA
I dreamed of seeing this fantastic monument since I was a child, when I learned that it was considered one of the seven man made wonders of the World.
Incredible but true, I’ve seen Mount Rushmore monument and memorial park in October 2014.
It is indeed majestic and breath taking!
This huge sculpture carved in the granite rock of the Black Hills in Keystone, South Dakota took the Sculptor Gutzon Borglum 14 years to accomplish.
My husband and I spent about 3 days in the Black Hills area and went to the monument twice – I just wanted to do my best with the photos 🙂
The sculpture is so big you can see it from faraway and this is what it looks like from Custer Park, which is quite a ways from the monument.
You don’t even need to enter the memorial park – the sculpture appears very well from the road 🙂 It is worth it however to go inside. The park is open to the public seven days a week, all year long. See the program here.
This is the entrance to the park:
… And right before you enter you can say hello to this beautiful mountain goat. It looks like he is always there, as he probably gets snacks from the tourists 🙂
There are always a lot of visitors at the Rushmore monument. There are also binoculars to get a closer view of the sculpture.
… And here is a cutest surprise ever!:
You can see and get Thomas Jefferson’s ice cream recipe!!!
The poster says:

If you want the recipe as a poster on your wall, it can look like this. – Just click on it and you have it 🙂

The Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada Sign is as fabulous as the city itself.
But the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada Sign is just one of the many Las Vegas iconic neon signs that make this city of lights so famous. You can see them on the strip as well as downtown, on the Fremont Street East and especially on the Fremont Street Experience. Most of them are standing, but some are just nostalgic relics of the past, exhibited by the well-known Neon Museum in downtown Las Vegas. Read more…
